Let’s Beat Joe!

If you know Altamont Free Library, you know Joe. And if you know Joe, you know that’s he’s a huge nerd whose favorite hobby is work. But his *second* favorite hobby is doing the weekly Sunday New York Times crossword.

Every year, Joe looks forward to the week that the Times publishes its annual SuperMega Crossword. It came out a few weeks early this year, but he’s been busy and hasn’t gotten to starting it just yet. This year’s puzzle has 606 across clues and 590 down clues. He’s expecting a very pleasant weekend getting started on it.

So, Altamont, here’s the challenge: Can our patrons work together to finish the SuperMega before Joe does?

Starting today, you can drop into the library’s community room and solve one clue or a fifty. It would be unsporting to have one person solve the whole thing, so let’s let others share in the satisfaction of besting the librarian. We’ll keep the challenge going until we have a winner!

Happy solving!
