You local library is more than just books! Your library card gives you access to thousands of resources, from ebooks and audiobooks to news, TV, movies, and more! Here is a rundown of all the digital services that come with your Altamont Free Library membership.
What it does: Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines via Upper Hudson’s digital catalog.

Altamont Free Library is discontinuing Hoopla service effective June 15, 2026. Any items borrowed up to that date will still be available for the standard 21 days, even after new borrowing is suspended.
What it does: Instant access to thousands of ebooks, audiobooks, TV shows, movies, and music. Altamont Free Library patrons may check out up to five items per month.
How to use it: Install the app or go to Hoopla’s website. The first time you use Hoopla, you will have to create a free Hoopla account, then search for Altamont Free Library and sign in using your library card number.

What it does: Free unrestricted access to the New York Times, including Cooking, Games, The Athletic, and Wirecutter, for 24 hours.
How to use it: Click this link, enter your library card number, then proceed to create or sign in using your New York Times account

What it does: Free unrestricted access to the Wall Street Journal for 72 hours.
How to use it: Click this link, enter your library card number, then proceed to create or sign in using your Wall Street Journal account

Kanopy is available to Altamont Free Library users in partnership with Guilderland Public Library.
What it does: Stream thousands of films for free without ads through your library. Users have 30 credits to use per month; most films cost between two and five credits each.
How to use it: Install the app or go to Kanopy’s website. The first time you use Kanopy, you will have to create a free Kanopy account, then search for Guilderland Public Library and sign in using your library card number.

What it does: Comics Plus has a catalog of thousands of comics, graphic novels, and manga.

What it does: Get Unlimited digital access to Consumer Reports’ ratings and reviews.
How to use it: Follow this link to the Consumer Reports website, then enter your library card number.

Transparent Language is available to Altamont Free Library users in partnership with Guilderland Public Library.
What it does: The Transparent Language learning service provides lessons for over 100 languages.
How to use it: Visit Transparent Language’s website, enter your library card number, and create an account.

What it does: GetSetUp offers both live and on-demand videos on topics covering everything from technology assistance, to cooking tips, informational lectures, all the way down the line to life advice like how to dress for the holidays!
